A lot better than one would think! Jul 06, 2011
By Miko Before anyone criticizes me for the smaller size of this tank, my Betta is very happy making bubble nests and maintaining lovely activity and not being listless at all. The light is beautiful for the live plant I have in with my fish and he is quite content resting on its leaves. In a prior smaller tank my Betta would bang itself against the walls repeatedly. Now all is calm. This is a highly suggested tank for anyone considering the smaller cheaper marina tanks made of plastic with the designed backgrounds! It is worth the small price increase!

A nice basic little cube-bowl Aug 19, 2011

For the price this is a fairly nice little setup. The LED light is decent though no on-off switch. Most betta enthusiasts will tell you all the tiny tanks they label as "perfect for bettas" are really too small and rarely come with the things that will help bettas live most comfortably. You want your fish to have some room to swim right? So something more like 2-5gal with a weak filter and light is better (bettas don't like a current, and a bubbler is unnecessary). Your betta will also be happier in temperatures 75-80F since they are tropical, so many people get aquarium heating.
Don't expect to get much decoration into this one but try to get a plant or two since bettas are accustomed to living among them. I have one with a live plant (which the betta likes) and it seems to be doing ok between the light and indirect light from my window. I doubt the light would be good enough for a plant if you aren't also getting indirect light.
You will also have to change the water fairly frequently since it has no filer. Having a live plant may help some, but if you only have artificial decorations expect to clean it a lot.
I was happy this "kit" did NOT come with extra plants, food, water conditioner, etc. I like to be able to choose my own, and I don't really like the other small tanks tack on that extra expense. Most of that stuff is pretty cheap anyway.
I really wanted more of a cube shaped tank rather than the more common narrow rectangles, but I honestly wish this cube was just a little bit larger- like at least another half gallon. Then it would be perfect. Its a little small and I'm looking into a larger tank now.

Little tank May 06, 2011
By Azn305girlie My Betta fish is super happy in his little tank ... It looks awesome along side my larger shrimp tank . Not only did I buy one but it's so sheek and elegant I got another tank to put in my wall unit . My friends brag about the set up and my fishes all the time ... I absolutely enjoy it.. Only one flaw!! The light has to be plugged in to turn on there's no on and off switch but I easily fixed that issue with a dual outlet timer :o)
Love this fish tank! Feb 13, 2012
By crys1s Just got this today at a pet store for much less. Set it up with some jumbo dark river pebbles (will probably switch to regular black gravel), an artificial plant and an external/hang-on nano filter that is similar to this: http://www.amazon.com/AZOO-AZ13097-Mignon-Filter-60/dp/B005VEWCMO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329092466&sr=8-1
I still put the lid on as I don't want my new betta to jump out; it protrudes about half an inch from the top of the tank. I also put a cup lid with a small hole in the middle on top of the circular hole. Bettas love to jump and I don't want to take that risk as I have cats. Someone put up a photo of a bamboo plant in a tea infuser cup - great idea! I was looking for bamboo plants but didn't find any today. This will work better than the cup lid. I'm thinking of getting a small heater as well as my apt is chilly (can't control the heat, unfortunately). As other reviewers have commented, it would be nice to have an on/off switch for the light. It's a bit of a hassle having to unplug it if your power outlet is under a desk or somewhere hard to reach. Other than that, it's light and portable, so cleaning will not pose as much of a problem as my 2.5 gallon tank which houses a second betta. I might just get a second tank since it looks way cooler and takes up less space.
Happy Betta Jan 19, 2012
By dhyan25 I bought this fish tank for my office cube, was looking for something that is very simple to carry during water changes through all our heavy doors that we have to badge in and out. Also was looking for something very neat and tidy. This one is really great, glass acquarium. I put in some river rocks and bamboo. The light is great, a on/off switch would have been better, but I can easily unplug. I have gone through 1 water change already, was so easy. Betta is very happy and swims around gently all day, flares his fins and then rests a while, blows his bubble nests and waits under. He is eating good too and his color has improved since I got him from the store. I add a pinch of api acquarium salt in there for freshwater and tap water conditioner to condition the water. All in all, a good purchase for the betta.
