Sheltie Puppy's Absolute Favorite Toy! Aug 01, 2011

I am a lifetime Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie) lover. It broke my heart to have to say goodbye to my 13-year old female Sheltie early this summer. Because of the pain I figured I would wait a year or so before looking for another Sheltie puppy. But it must be that God had different plans. I happened to be glancing through a weekly paper (that I hardly ever read) and there I spotted an ad for AKC Sheltie pups from a reputable and excellent breeder in Wisconsin. I guess it wouldn't hurt to just visit the website, eh?
Several e-mails and phone calls later, I was on my way to Wisconsin to pick up my new Sheltie friend and companion. What a blessing, for she was able to soften the hurt of losing my old pal.
Anyway, on to a review of this great dog toy, which is what you are reading this for after all.
This MULTIPET Mane Event 11-inch DONKEY plush toy is my Sheltie puppy's absolute favorite toy. She has quite a few toys (I am spoiling her) in a toy box that she can jump into and select what she wants. This donkey is always her first choice to tug, chase after, sometimes chew on, and sleep with every night. When I toss it across the room (skipping stones on water style) she can't resist the chase and capture and returns it to me to do it again and again. The donkey has a great bounce and flop action with the mane and tail cotton ropes flying about in the air wildly. The stuffing is neither too hard nor too soft--just right. My puppy loves the donkey so much that whenever she goes to sleep, she finds it first, and then settles down with it. So...it's the first toy she seeks in the morning and the last toy she wants before night-y-night.
The construction of the toy appears to be strong and it is holding up well so far, although I always monitor my dog's actions with all toys to be safe.
Today I ordered a second Mane Event DONKEY so she will have one upstairs and one downstairs, which saves me steps to get her favorite toy. Additionally, I have ordered the Mane Event Lion and we'll try that out too when it arrives.
All in all, my Sheltie approves this toy (paws UP) and me too!

This is my mini poodle's bedtime toy, he usually chews on our Labs big gnarly NYLA bones and I don't want that in my bed, So I found what I thought was a "pony", and he's become his special night time toy. He loves chewing the mane or tail before crashing for the night on our bed. This is already "pony" number two after one of our Labs got ahold of it and ripped it to shreds as the poodle helplessly watched. So for now he lives behind my pillow during the day....shhhhh don't tell the dog! This has been one of the best toys we've purchased (next to the nubby rubber balls, though that will have to be another review). I can't speak for any other dog, but I can tell you it's my pup's favorite. So I just ordered 2 more as back ups for when this one dies. And I guess we'll just keeping calling it "pony", because the dog knows when I say that it's bedtime.
